VILLAGE HALL REFURBISHMENT AND MODERNISATION
The official opening of the Hall took place on 3 February 2007. A crowded hall saw Alan Duncan MP unveil a small plaque to commemorate the day, in the presence on the Mayor and Mayoress of Melton. There was a special cake and sparkling wine for the occasion. It was a great morning enjoyed by all, especially the winners of the 200 Club prize draw which was made by the Mayor. Pictures of the morning can be seen on the following link. Official Opening
W are now embarking on the 2nd Phase of the refurbishment programme, and will include:
·Replacing the floor with a similar hardwood material designed to maintain the existing character and colour of the floor.
·Replacing the current Oil tank which is showing signs of corrosion
·Replacing the old heavy wooden folding tables with lighter and safer models
·Landscaping the outside area to provide a better recreational facility which can be more easily maintained.
The necessary finance is currently being investigated, which we hope will be secured by grants, and our own Village Hall resouces.
If you have any suggestions please let us know.
RACE NIGHT
A superb Race Night was held in February which was great fun for all who attended. The Tote was kindly, and very effectively, run by Bob Child, assisted by his wife Jill, and created an exciting and enjoyable atmosphere. A total of £370 was raised for Village Hall funds.
QUIZ NIGHT
Another very successful Quiz Night was held on 17 April. The event raised nearly £200. Thank you all for your support. For photos click here
